Our History

2005

Life of Purpose Christian Church held its first service in a member’s basement with about twenty families in attendance. Tony Difatta was the interim pastor and his daughter, Jade, was the first baptism in Grandma Pat’s pool. The mission was to build a church family that develops relationships and encourages spiritual growth by proclaiming the message of Jesus Christ to the community and beyond.

2006

In January, the church moved to L’Anse Creuse Middle School Central in Harrison Twp. for Sunday services at 10am. Matt Trombley was called and confirmed as the pastor in June and ordained in October by the Southern Baptist Association. His wife Jaime has always led with him on the worship team.

2009

We relocated to L’Anse Creuse Middle School South for Sunday services embracing the many challenges of being a portable church.

2011

We began a new tradition of celebrating baptisms outside with a church family BBQ. This was a great year of exciting new growth and 14 baptisms.

2014

We welcomed Chrissy Slack as our administrative leader (chaos coordinator). Her husband Justin also became a deacon. We are so blessed to have this family leading and serving.

2015

We participated in several mission events over the first ten years in Cleveland, Detroit, Flint, and the Czech Republic. It is always a blessing to serve others in the name of Jesus for God’s glory. We also had 17 baptisms this year.

2018

We finally found a building in St. Clair Shores at 20880 E. 10 mile. The Lord provided through the generosity of Barry Brockert. He felt God was leading him to buy a building and partner with a church.  At the same time, we felt God was calling us to find a building to reach more for Jesus. This was God ordained. Barry formed the nonprofit Bernadette’s Faith in Action to serve the community. Together, we are able to do so much more for God’s kingdom.

2019

Through much prayer and discussion, we became a non-denominational, elder led church. We amended our by-laws to reflect this decision and the whole church approved. We believe labels can hinder people from coming to Christ. We still partner with many churches to go and make disciples. We also changed our logo and purpose statement.

2020

Covid was a challenging year for many, but our youth still found ways to live out their faith in Jesus. As people returned to normal everyday life, we began to experience tremendous growth. This is also the year that Pastor Matt resigned from teaching to be full-time at the church.

2023

Pastor Matt celebrated his 50th birthday with a full house. We also welcomed Marie Hagan as our children’s coordinator and began our Biblical counseling ministry.

2025

We celebrated 20 years of ministry! Joe and Kari Woycik have served in various ministries from the very beginning. Joe is one of four elders and Kari leads our women’s ministry. We also had 24 baptisms and welcomed many new members this year.
